  Vibratory Conveyor Systems

The vibratory conveyor system, shown below, is a bulk material handling system that was designed and built for Philip Morris.

The challenge was to continuously convey material and avoiding damage to the product.

An extensive technology search revealed that the technology had already been perfected by an overseas supplier.

To reduce development cost to the client, Lewis approached the overseas owner of the technology and obtained a license to manufacture and integrate the vibratory technology into the Lewis system.

The result is a system which transports the product by the vibratory motion generated by an electric motor. This method of bulk material handling reduces damage to the raw and processed product and minimises dust creation.

The system was designed with the following features:

  • Automatic material detection. The system is only operated when there are products on the conveyor. This reduces operating costs and prolongs the life of the equipment.
  • Automated diversion for quality control sampling. Reduces labour costs.
  • Robust and low maintenance system.
  • Increases in efficiency and reduction of down time reduce operating cost.
  • Integration of world's best technology using locally available and supported materials and components.
